Double Dutch International (DDI) takes off tomorrow on route to the Cannes Film Festival and accompaning Marche du Film. DDI execs Ron and Jason Moring will be attending from May 15-May 25, located in the Canadian Pavilion in the International Village.
"This is an exciting time for DDI hitting Cannes with our strongest line-up to date" says DDI President Ron Moring. "If you look at where we were only a year ago to where we're headed in Cannes, Toronto, and AFM, it's an exciting time for us, our clients and most importantly our producers!"
DDI comes into Cannes with 3 new films including DORFMAN, the already mulit-award winning romantic comedy starring Sara Rue, Elliott Gould and a fully international supporting cast; WARHOUSE the gritty psychological thriller starring Jospeh Morgan of TV's Vampire Diaries; and GENERAL EDUCATION a quirky comedy starring ensemble cast headlined by teen stars Chris Sheffield and Maiara Walsh.
The 3 new films already join such films as UNION SQUARE starring Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino; LUCKY the incredible arthouse drama that has won 5 International awards and premiered at over 25 festivals worldwide; VIERNES DE ANIMAS the Mexican blockbuster hit, recently being announced as in the top 10 grossing domestic films of 2011 in Mexico; LES FAMEUX GARS which stars the who's who of French rap stars and premiered at #4 on the Luxembourg box office charts; and BANG BANG a hard hit gangster drama which picked up the Best First Feature at the SDAFF.
"Our slate is a testament to our overall vision" says Double Dutch Media President Jason Moring. "We knew our fresh approach to foreign sales would take some filmmakers and producers by surprise. The idea that a sales company will put a dedicated hands-on approach seemed alien to some. They're used to plugging their film into the 'machine' and hoping for the best, but our strategy is not about the 'quick buck'. We're longterm in our approach and it has resonated with a lot of filmmakers."
DDI will have 4 films screening as part of the Marche du Film:
DORFMAN will screen on Sunday May 20th @ 9:30a in the Palais F theatre and again on Wednesday May 23 @ 12:00p in the Palais E theatre.
WARHOUSE will screen on Sunday May 20th @ 8:00p in the Palais D theatre.
GENERAL EDUCATION will screen on Tuesday May 22 @ 5:30p in the Palais B theatre.
UNION SQUARE will screen on Wednesday May 23 @ 10:00a in the Palais C theatre.
